beaTunes crashes when clicking on scrollbars on El Capitan

If beaTunes crashes on El Capitan (OS X 10.11), when you click on scrollbars and other items, this happens probably due to an outdated JavaVM.Framework.

To update the JavaVM.Framework, please download and install the latest Java 6 update from Apple. As of the writing of this article, it's located here.

The update offered by Apple contains two parts:

  1. The current JavaVM.Framework (this is the part beaTunes needs!)
  2. The legacy Java 6 Runtime Environment

Unless you need the Java 6 Runtime Environment for some other application, it's a good idea to remove it right after the installation, because it's old, not maintained and generally considered a security risk. Instructions for how to do this, can be found here.
