How to install a plugin or beaTlet
Before you follow the instructions for manual plugin installation, please open the beaTunes preferences, go to the Plugin
tab and try to install/uninstall the desired plugin from there. If it is not available or not listed, follow these steps:
To install a plugin, you simply have to place it into the beaTunes plugin directory.
The location of your plugin directory depends on your operating system.
From beaTunes 2.1 on they are:
- macOS:
[your_home]/Library/Application Support/beaTunes/Plug-Ins
- Windows Vista/7/8/8.1/10:
c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\tagtraum industries\beaTunes\plugins
- Windows XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\tagtraum industries\beaTunes\plugins
If the plugins
or Plug-Ins
folder does not exist yet, because no plugin has ever been installed, you might need to create it manually.
Note that the Windows Explorer may hide the folder AppData
from you. To navigate to it, you can simply type it into the Explorer navigation bar or tell Explorer to show hidden files.
On macOS the directory denoted as [your_home]
or ~
is not your harddrive, but your home directory. You can get to it by opening a Finder window and clicking on the little house icon. The easiest way to find ~/Library/Application Support/beaTunes/Plug-Ins
is to open Finder, and choose the menu Go
-> Go to Folder...
and simply enter ~/Library/Application Support/beaTunes/
.
Up to (and including) beaTunes 2.0 the locations are:
- macOS:
[your_home]/Library/Application Support/beaTunes/Plug-Ins
- XP:
c:\Documents and Settings\[username]\.beaTunes\plugins
- Vista/Windows 7:
c:\Users\[username]\.beaTunes\plugins
Make sure that there is only one version of the plugin in that folder - i.e. remove any older versions. Typically, plugins for beaTunes 2 don't work for beaTunes 3.
Never remove plugins, while there are still tasks in the task queue!
