beaTunes 2.1.8 (and previous versions) keeps crashing over and over again
I am running an analysis of all of my songs. In the process
beaTunes keeps crashing forcing me to restart the process. The good
news is that it always starts up where it left off, so I am not
losing any progress made. The only error code I get is "It seems
that a previous run beaTunes crashed."
Any ideas? My phone number is 801-541-4561 if you can call me. Thanks,
Rusty

I have the same issue. If you could reply to this thread with any ideas, that would be great!

i am getting that, too and it is highly frustrating. I have purchased beatunes twice and am highly dependent on the program as i use it format my indoor cycling classes. is there any help out there? it just started recently and prior to the most recent update of itunes.

I can't make any blanket statements about crashes. In each individual case I'd have to look at the logs. Here's where you can find the logs: http://help.beatunes.com/faqs/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatune... Note that
this only makes sense right after a crash occurred.
Thanks,
-hendrik
PS: Please understand that there is no phone support.

Do you want me to send you the logs? I think all of this started when I
had to re-install java.

Please do... you might want to start your own discussion for it.

Am I correct in my understanding that there is no support for this and
no way to solve the problem other than having a "discussion"? would
someone like me be able to read a crash log and understand what it means
and how to fix it? do I have to buy another version that may or may not
work?

I have been a longtime user of beaTunes.
If you as a user of beaTunes can zip the contents of the beaTunes log directory as soon as beaTunes crashes, before you accept the error message, and email that zipfile to [email blocked] then it creates a private discussion in this forums between you and hendrik, and he has been amazing at fixing faults in his software.
The logs directory on Windows 7 (x64) is:
C:\Users\--your-username--\AppData\Local\tagtraum industries\beaTunes\logs
but see this thread for more information: http://help.beatunes.com/faqs/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatune...Always included a little blurb about what you think you asked beaTunes to do that may have caused it to crash, how long before the crash you started it etc.
Hendrik, Incidently I have been experiencing continuous crashing too. I'll work out when exactly its crashing I'll send you an email ;)

Thanks, Tim.
Yes indeed - there is support, but it's via this forum/email only. "Discussion" can be public or private and try my best to give timely responses. Until 5/30/2010 there may be slight delays, since I'm currently travelling. But please be assured that you don't need to purchase anything to get support.
Thanks!

Sorry -- I seem really snarky in my last comment. Didn't understand the
whole "discussion" process, but I get it now, so thanks for making me a
little more up-to-speed :) attached are crash logs. Thanks for taking
the time to try and fix this -- I love your program and have come to
depend on it mightily.

Hi Ann,
it looks like you are using a quite old version of beaTunes - please update to the latest (2.1.8) - since you have a 2.x license, the update is free. Perhaps the bug has already been fixed.
Thanks,
-hendrik

Hi Hendrik --
Nope -- that one crashed, too. I sent the crash report to tagtraum. This
is the error message I always receive -- the file isn't corrupt. I can
go back in and ask it to just analyze that one song and it will do so
(usually).

Hi Ann,
I found your logs and noticed that you are using the Detect Silence task. There might be a problem with that beast - do you experience problems also, when that task is turned off?
Also, I'd like to reproduce the issue here - can you send me the file
F:\iTunes Music\Soundtrack - Various Artists\Bandslam\12 Stuck In The Middle.mp3
?Thanks,
-hendrik

Thanks Ann!
I am able to reproduce the issue with that file - but unfortunately I don't have a fix yet. For now, please disable the Detect Silence analysis task.
Thanks,
-hendrik

Thank you hendrik! I will disable it.

I believe that I have found a workaround for the QuickTime crash you saw in the Detect Silence task on Windows. It's in the 2.1.9 version for Windows.

i didnt get any solution to my problem, even the test period ended, so i couldnt try the sowtware.
also, i dont know why but the log file is empty
Support Staff 19 Posted by hendrik on 17 Jun, 2010 02:23 PM
Alejandro,
you could still send me your logs (you probably looked in the wrong folder, please double check) and I could diagnose what the problem was. Unfortunately the only way to get a new trial period is to set back the system clock before starting beaTunes.

I already check the folder:
C:\Users\Alejandro Falcón\.beaTunes\logs
But the file still empty, i dont understand why.

That's unfortunately not the correct location for beaTunes 2.1.
Please see http://help.beatunes.com/faqs/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatune... for the correct location.
