I'm currently running Windows 32-bit 3.5.13 and was wondering what the correct way is to move to the latest 64-bit version. Should I delete the existing version and then install the new one? Is there anything I should save first?

You should be able to simply run the 64 bit installer.
It should detect the old version and remove it.

But: Make sure beaTunes is not running!
