AudioFileFormat Issue

There are some songs of mp3's that I have that, for whichever reason will not be analyzed. In the Task Queue the error message that comes up with these files is 'Failed to determine AudioFileFormat for (Song Title)'. The files play fine in iTunes, Windows Media Player, as well as Quicktime.

The items that I want analyzed are BPM, color, Key, and genre. For whichever reason, this problem only occurs with a select few songs of mine (maybe 50 out of ~35,000 audio files). Any insight that you could provide as to why these are being troublesome would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,

even though the file has an mp3 extension, it is in fact an mp2 file.

beaTunes uses QuickTime to open the file and fails, as the extension does match the contents. As a matter of fact, on OS X QuickTime Player can't open the file labeled as mp3 either. Rename it to a mp2 extension and things work just fine.

You might want to check the Get Info dialog of iTunes - it says Mpeg-1, Layer 2.

    Hope this helps,
