Deleting missing files does not work

I have a very large iTunes library of 31,011 songs with a total size of 244.75 GB,
1) My iTunes library gets analyzed by BeaTunes
2) My iTunes library gets inspected by BeaTunes.
3) The resulting inspection shows 11,225 missing files.
4) I have tried three times to delete any or all of the missing files by either going with the default selection or manually highlighting every missing file and then "Permanently removing the selected songs from the library."
5) NONE OF THE MISSING FILES HAVE EVER BEEN DELETED.
What's the problem?
