Inability to read files on remote drive with emoji in path

I am unable to analyze certain files because beatunes is unable to locate the file. The file in question has emoji in the path which I think is the reason beaTunes cannot find it.

Hi
I once inserted an emoji into one of my tracks—then it could no longer be found. As you suspected, that is the reason for “not found.”

Stephan

Thanks for reporting this. Right now, beaTunes is incapable of handling emojis.
Sorry.

Yes the remote drive is mounted as smb. beaTunes is set to sync from apple Music app.
I was unable to add the file from a local drive to my beaTunes library, which seems to suggest this is a problem for both local and remove drive.
The filename is: 04 ♪:fire: ᗰᵃтᑎ :doughnut:♤.m4a if you want to test on your side

Yes. You are right. The problem appears to be twofold:
I will try to look into the second problem, so at least analysis etc. works. For beaTunes 5, the first problem won't be fixed, I'm afraid. I hope to be able to get this to work in a future version though.

There is now an early access version of beaTunes that supports Emojis in path.
Please see https://blog.beatunes.com/2026/04/early-access-beatunes-6.html for details.
For beaTunes 5, I will probably be able to solve that second issue (not display, but file access). Watch out for the next beaTunes 5 update, if that is enough for you.
