Hi:
I just upgraded Beatunes. Now when I analyze a song for BPM or KEY nothing shows up in those boxes. I can still see the BPM and KEYS from the previous version.

    I'm upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1, not from 1.0
    Thanks

    Thanks for the fast reply.

I restarted my whole computer. The values still don't show up.

    Hi,

so the values don't show up in beaTunes or in iTunes?

In either case, can you please analyze some songs, shut down beaTunes and send me your (zipped) logs?

    Thanks,

So, do the values not show up in beaTunes, iTunes or both?
    E.g. /Users/howardartig/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Dwight Yoakam/This Time/05 Two Doors Down.mp3
Upon restarting beaTunes does it show a BPM of roughly 103? What does iTunes show?

    Thanks,

    Hi:

The Key and BPM are showing fine for that song in beatunes.
The BPM is showing for itunes. The key can't be displayed in itunes,
    is that correct?
I noticed that I have beatunes synching with itunes, there are about
20,000 songs, could that be stopping new songs from being analyzed?
Also, when I try to analyze a song now, it says "server error, please
    try again later".

    Hi,

yes - the key cannot be displayed in iTunes unless you use one of those plugins mentioned in the news blog.
The syncing does not keep songs from being analyzed, but it may delay the showing of the correct values in beaTunes. Not switching back and forth between beaTunes and other apps all the time is definitely recommended (as it triggers syncs).

The server error may occur, because you have chosen to use "online resources" in the analysis options. This will cause beaTunes to first contact an online database to download the desired data instead of calculating it. Sometimes that does not work.

    Hope this helped,

    Hi:

I restarted beatunes. I shut off sync. I shut off check online
    resources.
I still can't get songs to respond with key and bpm. When I try to
    analyze
a song a small dialog box and a window sized box flash on the screen,
too quickly to read. Does that have any significance? Sorry for the
    trouble.
I really like this program and want it to work like it used to. Maybe
    I have
    some settings incorrect.

    Hi,

you can ignore that flashing dialog.

Having looked at your logs, I suspect that this is just a display problem. I.e. the values are calculated and stored in beaTunes and iTunes (as illustrated by that one song we emailed about), but not shown right away.
