any way to speed up with music on NAS?
Been a customer for many years. Currently have about 29,000 songs on QNAP NAS connected via 1GB ethernet to my macbook Pro M1. Startup time for beaTunes is over 15 minutes (no analysis or sync made.) Once started, it is too sluggish to use. It it unusable for me. In Settings I have all the "General Behavior:" items unchecked. My beaTunes is not connected to iTunes on my system. I've tried everything I can find in the forum and FAQ to reduce any tasks. Tried WiFi 6 which helps just a little bit but still unusable. Is it possible to add caching or anything to speed it up? Maybe a setting I can tweak? I tried launching it today and opened the Settings and it is so slow it took 10 minutds for the Setings dialog to appear and it was frozen for 10 more minutes. I then clicked to close the Settings and it took 10 minutes for it to close. Just to give you an idea of what I deem unusable.

Hi Roger,
that sounds indeed truly unusable. :-/
Can you please start up beaTunes and try to upload your logs via
Help
->Upload Logs
as soon as you can? I'd love to see what's going on. Perhaps the logs provide some insight. Also, please send me a screenshot of your general settings.
Thank you!

Hello Hendrik,
My install of beaTunes is so slow, I am unable to even use the dropdown
menus in order to send logs. It seem to be getting much worse. I've
attached the logs to this email. I took a look at the beaTunes log and
there are many items indicating accessing a specific directory "took very
long". I'm going to try to Quit beaTunes and then move that directory out
of my music collection of files.

Hey Roger,
thanks for the files. It looks like you have thousands of files in some of your directories and beaTunes has trouble with that.
Could you please download and install the latest dev snapshot from https://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-5-2-35-SNAPSHOT.dmg ?
I suspect it will make things go a little faster. Please let me know how it goes and if you can reach that
Help
menu, please upload your logs (and if not, please attach a newer version ofbeaTunes.log
).Thanks!

I removed the folder with the large number of mp3s. I installed your dev
snapshot. Launched beaTunes. Loaded much faster. Did a sync but not an
analyze. Took some time but when finished, beaTunes is very usable. I
sent you logs from the app. I plan to take that big folder and break it
down into smaller folders. Do you have a suggestion on limits of how many
mp3s should be in a folder? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP! I am happy to use
beaTunes again!

Hey Roger
That may actually not be necessary anymore with this snapshot.
One thing that will speed up things, is to hide the
Location
column. To do so, open theView
menu and thenView Options...
. Find theLocation
entry in the right list and drag it into the left list.Hope this helps,
