   COMPLETELY RUINED YEARS AND YEARS WORTH OF COLLECTING MUSIC. CHANGED ARTIST NAMES TO RANDOM BAND NAMES. I CANT SEARCH FOR ANYTHING FUCK YOU I WANT A REFUND

   Clair,

   I'm truly sorry some metadata in your collection got mangled. That kind of thing sucks.

   To add some context to this public discussion: It sounds like you have selected the "Import metadata" task and have chosen to "Replace existing song properties." When you do that in beaTunes, a dialog pops up, warning you that results may not be what you expect (see annotated screenshot below).
