Repeated registration requests

I recently purchased beaTunes and received my registration key. I placed beaTunes in the Applications folder associated with my personal account (not the shared one). However, beaTunes does not seem to be able to retain the fact that I have registered. I am asked to enter my key each time I launch beaTunes. Thinking I might have a permissions problem, I repaired the permissions on my hard drive, but the problem with beaTunes remains. I am using OS.X 10.5.8, iTunes version 9.0.2, and beaTunes version 2.1.3.

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your message. I assume you enter your key every time you are asked to do it? Can you please send me your logs? They are in ~/Library/Logs/beaTunes. Please simply zip the whole folder before sending it.

    Thanks,

Thank you for the prompt response. Upon further investigation, I discovered that my Library folder within my user account folder had somehow associated read-only permissions for the account. I think this was interfering with the ability of the app to save its app preferences. I'm not sure how the permissions had gotten messed up, but I have given my standard user account read-write permissions to the library in that account, and that seems to have taken care of the registration problems.

    Jeff,

thanks for getting back with this - and yes - that makes sense.
beaTunes stores registration information in its preferences and those in turn are stored in ~/Library/Preferences - not being able to write in that folder would lead to the effect you have observed.
