When I try to quit BeaTunes, nothing happens. Even 10-20 minutes later the app is still running.

Hey Roland,
beaTunes is not shutting down, because it believes it is already shutting down (at least according to the logs). I'm not sure how this happened, but I'd recommend creating a new folder-based library for a folder that contains just one item. This ensures that your actual library gets closed properly. Then simply force-quit beaTunes. When you start beaTunes the next time, switch back to your regular library (in the general prefs).
Again, the idea here is not to force-quit beaTunes while your regular library is still open.
