Hi,

My music collection is split in 2on my hard drive, a folder for me and a folder for my wife. If I select the parent folder for the library it includes everything in both folders but there are about 1,500 duplicates across both folders which I know about and I'm happy for them to live in the file system that way.

In most music management softwares (we use Media Monkey) you can remove duplicates form the library but keep them on the hard drive but when you try to delete them from the library in beaTunes there doesn't seem to be an option to leave them on the drive. I tried with a couple of songs I had backed up and it deleted them from source with no clear option to keep them.

Plan b was to remove the library and build 2 seperate libraries, one with my wife's music and one with mine but on creation of a "New Library" the old one is removed so that isn't an option either.

I'm guessing plan c will e to just keep the duplicates in the library and try to ignore them. Is there something I'm missing here?

Kind Regards

Darren

    Hey Darren,

You are correct, beaTunes currently has not way of ignoring files. If they are in the folder, they are in the library and the only way to remove them from the library is to remove the file.

It is not removed. You can switch between libraries in the general preferences.

    Hope this helps,
