Sync Issue
Ok, weird issue. It started when I was going through the Inspection tool and committed some changes to delete duplicate songs. I'm not sure exactly what happened as beaTunes was running in the background while I was doing other things, but while it was committing the changes, something happened and beaTunes started syncing rather than completing the commitments, now whenever I use beaTunes for listening, updating metadata, or forcing synchronization, it gets caught in this weird pseudo-sync loop and never actually finishes syncing. I changed my iTunes/Music library to see if beaTunes would recognize the change and correct itself, but no luck. :( I can still run other processes if I manage to cancel the unrequested sync, but it just keeps popping back up. Here's a video of what happens: https://youtu.be/OgPzM0i1fuU
Cheers,
James

Hi James,
Well that certainly does not look good.
Is there any way you can reproduce the issue and then upload your logs via
Help
->Upload Logs
from within the app?Thanks,
-hendrik

Thanks for the logs.
I have an idea what's going on and will try to get you a fixed version by Tue or Wed.
Have a great weekend!

PS: Selecting a different playlist and then synchronize may help. But that's just a guess.

Hi James,
could you please download and install the dev snapshot from https://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-5-2-13-SNAPSHOT.dmg
Does it fix the issue?
Thank you,
-hendrik

Hi Hendrik,
Yes, it seems to be working now, thank you! However, it now seems to do some sort of more gradual sync, where it only updates playlists a few songs at a time. beaTunes could have been doing this prior and I just didn’t notice, but seems worth mentioning. As you probably saw, this version did crash the first time I opened it, but has since worked.
I haven’t checked to see if this has been resolved yet, but one issue I had before was that after doing an inspection, any updates I didn’t commit would be lost after quitting and reopening (not a big deal as inspection happens pretty quickly). But more annoying, my commitments saying “these aren’t duplicates, don’t ask me again” would also be forgotten, so they would show right back up on the next inspection.
Thank you for all your hard work, saving me work!
James

Hey James,
thanks for testing this.
Not sure I fully understand what you mean here. Could you describe this in more detail, please?
No, there is no way to see for me whether something crashes on your machine unless you send me your logs. Have you?
But weren't you asked whether you wanted to commit them, when you quit?
That is indeed annoying. Could you please open a new discussion with this and describe it in more detail? Do you get the exact same duplicate report again?
Thanks,
-hendrik
