Re: Annotation 2020-07-27 204749.png - BeaTunes has reported this error a number of times.
The software also doesn't appear to be updating the BPMs in directory MP3, and the iTunes library doesn't appear to be reading the updated XML properly.

Hi,
beaTunes communicates with iTunes for Windows using COM. In your case, the iTunes COM server does not seem to start properly and therefore beaTunes fails at communicating BPM values to iTunes.
To try to fix this,
Hope this helps,

Hi Hendrik,
Thanks for that, that appears to have worked but all of my playlists have disappeared from iTunes. Where can I find them?
Best regards,
Brett

You mean in iTunes you don't see any playlists anymore?
What exactly have you done?

Hi Hendrik,
After running BeaTunes, I rebooted the PC as suggested. That was it.
Best regards,
Brett

And since then you don't see playlists in iTunes anymore.
That's very odd.
I have no idea how that could happen.

Hi Hendrik,
I looked in the updated XML file, none of the playlists are in there.
Best regards,
Brett

I am not sure I understand. Why would you look into the XML file and not the iTunes application user interface?
What am I missing?

Hi Hendirk,
I found out they were missing when looked in iTunes and they weren’t there, so I checked the XML file to see if they were there but just not being picked up for some reason – they weren’t there either.
Best regards,
Brett

Ah! Ok.
The XML file is not iTunes' database. It's just a reflection of it and occasionally even a slightly outdated one. For most end-users it is very safe to simply ignore it and just use the iTunes user interface.
Back to the problem.
So your playlist were gone, after you did what? I guess it wasn't a simple restart of your computer, right?

Hi Hendrik,
Yes – I restarted the PC after running BeaTunes, that’s all I did.
Best regards,
Brett

Sorry, Brett,
but I cannot help with the disappearing of iTunes playlists in iTunes after a computer restart.
Regarding the original problem (BPMs not in iTunes), I stand by my recommendation to
This will not make the BPM appear in iTunes. But if you enable "Force overwriting of fields..." in beaTunes' general preferences and then run the BPM analysis again with the "Replace Values" flag set, you should see BPM values appear in iTunes.
Hope this helps,

Hi Hendrik,
Does BeaTunes update iTunes Music Library.xml, and is that where playlists are stored?
Best regards,
Brett
Support Staff 13 Posted by hendrik on 30 Jul, 2020 05:36 AM
Hi Brett,
iTunes has a real database and that is where the information about playlists is stored. beaTunes does not write directly to either the XML file or the real database, but instead talks to iTunes and asks it to manipulate files or playlists.
