When I launch BeaTunes, it pauses and then tells me the "Java VM ran out of Memory". My setup is MacPro 2x2.66 ghz XEON processors, 10 gig RAM, and 2.5 tb of storage. I do have a rather large I-Tnes file that I am trying to clean up (28000 songs), but I cannot get the program to load.

    Hendrik,
I am using the latest version on the Apple website. I have tried to reload the program, but it is stopped at the "Shutting Down BeaTunes" dialogue.

    Hi,

that should be beaTunes 2.1.2 then.
    Let's try the following:

    • Make sure beaTunes is not running.
    • Then open the file ~/Library/Application Support/beaTunes/preferences2.xml with TextEdit.
    • Find the entry:

            <threads>2</threads>

(you probably have a different number there).

    • Change it to:

            <threads>2</threads>

    • Then save the file.

    • Now start beaTunes. Does it now start up?

If not, please send me your logs - they are in ~/Library/Logs/beaTunes. Please simply zip the whole folder before you send it.

    Thanks!

    Hendrik,
I don't have either of those files on the system. I just purchased
the license, and am going to try to install a fresh copy of BeaTunes,
I will let you know the status after the update.
    Thanks,
    Matt

I think I might have had a breakthrough. It seems to be working with a new license key. I will keep you posted if there is anything else.
    Thanks for replying so quickly.

    Hi,

the license key should not make a difference at all.
However, the '~' in the path indicates the home directory - maybe that helps you find those folders.
