Beatunes runs very cery slow...
Hello,
I own an important music library and I am cleaning it ; I keep some elements, trnsform other... .
My computer is a MacBook 2014/2015, with a SSD ( 2To), 16 Go RAM ; musical library about 600 Go ; Music library managed by iTunes which became Music.
I bought Beatunes to automate certains, tasks, in order to have my music library classified as I wish (leave or remove certain presentation elements, remove redundant elements such as the name of the composer, for example or translate an English term into French, like the word classic, etc.).
Beatunes should do this very well, but it works very slowly, it's really very disappointing. I read some posts and I tried some manipulations, like deleting the location of the file ; the result was not decisive when, after "cmd a", then "cmd i", I want to remove the name of the composer already present or the cd number.
Currently, I have to do all the manipulations one after the other, without being able to automate. It is really very restrictive ...
What can I do to use this software effectively in comfortable and efficient conditions?
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Thierry Jourget.

Hey Thierry,
how many tracks are in your library?
Do inspections and analysis not work for you? What exactly would you like to achieve and how does beaTunes fail you?
If you're interested, I can issue a refund.
Cheers,
-hendrik

Hey hendrik,
I have a lot of music, it is true, on my computer (Folk, Rock, traditional, French music, Pop, jazz, Classical, for example the Integral of Mozart, of JS Bach, of L. van Beethoven ... ) ; in total, several hundred GB, in mp3, AIFF, … . I was a teacher in Music and Choral Singing, now retired !
But I remain reasonable with regard to beatunes : I do not process all my music librarian or very large playlists at the same time !!! For the moment, for example, I manage the music which I have concerning Mozart ; I deal first with one folder where there is vocal music, then another where there are sonatas, then a third where there are the symphonies … ; I do things little by little.
What I don't understand is that, in this case, beatunes processes, I think, only a little data at a time, and it does not react either very arbitrarily or very slowly.
Example : when after having selected in the media library a window of 25 lines (cmd a), I then do "cmd i", there I should be able to quickly intervene on the different fields to personalize them (delete information, add more, replace "baroque" by "Classic", etc ...), and there, it is really very very frustrating to see the absence of reaction of the software.
I mainly use the "Media library" window and rarely but sometimes the "Inspection" window, which is really too long to load.
This is the problem (s) that I meet. What can you do in my case ?
Best Regards,
Thierry

Hey Thierry,
opening many files with cmd-i is indeed very slow in beaTunes. I am sorry about that and cannot change it. However, there are many tricks you could try. For example editing track information in the main table. beaTunes will try to assist you with that: https://blog.beatunes.com/2017/06/the-little-things-smart-mass-edit...
How many songs are in your library (just the count, not the gigabyte)?
Thanks,
-hendrik

Hi Hendrik !
How many songs are in my library ?!?
It's impossible to answer correctly...
A few thousands, I believe...
Jazz ? A lot
Folk/Contry/West Coast... ? A lot (just one example : I own all ths songs of Joni Mitchell, I'm very fan of her -> 28 albums... near 250 songs ?
Classical ? a lot
French songs ? A lot
Rap ? near zero
Disco ? near zero
Dance ? near zero
Electro ? Near zero
Thanks,
Thierry
Why this question (number of sons rather number of GigaBytes ?)

In the
View
menu of beaTunes, please turn on the status bar, if it is not already on and then select the main Music playlist. The number of tracks is then shown in the status bar.For beaTunes performance GigaBytes is irrelevant, only the track count determined performance.

Hello Henrik !
I do that : I have near 33 thousand "songs" on my Hard Disk.
That said, I like it when things are clear : even if Beatunes is ... "finicky", I still manage to get some satisfaction from him ; it also seems that the latest version (5.2.10) improves things.
I repeat, I never process more than 20/25 titles at a time.
So Beatunes is perfectible but it's still good software.
Here.
PS : Could I have an info (via sms or mail) when I receive a reply to one of my messages?
thanks in advance.

Hi Thierry,
Thanks. So that is large, but not super large. beaTunes should be able to handle that.
You should always received an email, when someone answers your questions in this forum.
Cheers,
-hendrik
