1. If you experienced a crash or other abnormal behavior, please attach the log file 'beaTunes-logs-2020-04-23-163322.zip' by dragging it from your desktop onto the 'Attach File' button below.

2. BeaTunes is not finding ALL duplicates on iTunes...The system is not matching duplicates correctly. Also, could you please make it so Beatunes removes duplicates not only from my iTunes library, but ALSO remove duplicates from all of my playlists? Please help! I'm a DJ and have thousands of songs. This is getting very frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

BeaTunes is not finding ALL duplicates on iTunes...

    Can you give an example?

Also, could you please make it so Beatunes removes duplicates not only from my iTunes library, but ALSO remove duplicates from all of my playlists?

I'm sorry, but beaTunes currently cannot do that properly.

    Hello Hendrik,

An example would be there are 3 copies of the same song under “iTunes duplicates”, but BeaTunes is not properly locating and removing them in my library on iTunes. Any suggestions? Thanks

I'm afraid, that too vague an example to work with. What does beaTunes do and how does beaTunes do it wrong? Can you please send screenshots?

    Thanks,

    Hello Hendrik,

For example...I have one song called "Girls on The Dance Floor" by Far East Movement. There is another duplicate of this track on iTunes that BeaTunes is not picking up because the duplicate contains the name of the artist in the title as well...Take a look:

Track 1 (Artist)"Far East Movement" - (Title)"Girls on The Dance Floor"

Track 2 (DUPLICATE) (Artist) "Far East Movement" - (Title)" Far East Movement - Girls on The Dance Floor".

All other info is the exact same...Do you understand what I'm saying now?

Also, how can I overwrite track info without messing up the title, artist, album artist, etc. I tried "importing missing data" on some tracks without artists, or titles via "importing data from online resources", but now some of the titles are all scrambled now, and the artists don't match the actual name of the artist...

Can you please help me? Hopefully we can get this resolved ASAP, thank you!

    Regards,

P.S. I wanted to ask you how I can import OR replace all of my songs with file info that iTunes provides. For example, every time I purchase a song on iTunes, it fills ALL of the info on each track perfectly, and without any issues. How can I force overwrite the data on iTunes using BeaTunes with the same database/information that iTunes utilizes on all of their tracks? Does that make sense? Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Maybe BeaTunes could work on removing duplicates from Playlists in iTunes, and NOT just in the library. That would be a huge help, and would save me hours doing this manually...Thanks!

    Hi,

if the song titles are different, beaTunes cannot find duplicates based on the titles—apparently iTunes is a little smarter in that regard.

But there is a second way beaTunes can detect duplicates that based on the audio, not the metadata. To find duplicates based on acoustic properties you have to compute audio fingerprints for all your files first and then re-run the duplicates inspection. To compute those fingerprints, choose Analyze All Songs from the Tools menu. Then, in the Analysis Options dialog, make sure that only the fingerprint task (that's the first one) is selected. Then run the analysis. Depending on how many tracks you have in your collection, this may take a while.

After the analysis is finished, re-run the duplicates inspection and songs that sound the same should be detected.

Also, how can I overwrite track info without messing up the title, artist, album artist, etc. I tried "importing missing data" on some tracks without artists, or titles via "importing data from online resources", but now some of the titles are all scrambled now, and the artists don't match the actual name of the artist...

When using the Import metadata task, please always be very careful when replacing any data. Especially replacing album names is very dangerous, because oftentimes tracks have been released on many albums and there is no way to know, which one is the right one.

Another way to correct metadata is the Get Info dialog that you can invoke on each track individually. In its Info tab, wrong tags are underlined in red and can be corrected with a right-click.

    Hope this helps,

    -hendrik
