Files (in directory-based library) deleted in BeaTunes doesnt disappear from my music-database
Several times using BeaTunes I deleted some files. However, they never disappear from my music-data base.

Typically beaTunes asks whether you really want to delete the file itself. What did you answer?

Of course I confirmed that question.

Cool. Just checking.
Can you please reproduce the issue, write which file you tried to delete and then immediately upload your logs via Help->Upload Logs from within beaTunes?
Thanks so much!

In the meantime I tried to do the same, but this time the database wasn’t situated at my NAS, but in at my iMac (the same where I use BeaTunes) In this case the from BeaTunes deleted files indeed disappeared from the database. However: if i try to change a title from a song (also at my iMac) the song doesnt change. (I did this using from the song in BeaTunes: Get Info/Info/Name

Hey Tom,
thanks for your logs and apologies for not getting back to you earlier—you know, the holidays...
Anyhow, beaTunes always attempts to move files to the trash/recycle bin rather than fully delete them. I'm guessing your NAS does not support that operation or the way it supports it is not supported by some middleware. In any case, the backup code that then permanently deletes the file may have been buggy.
Can you please try the current dev snapshot from https://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-5-2-5-SNAPSHOT.dmg and attempt to reproduce the issue (it should be fixed)?
Note that I never notarize dev snapshots (notarization is a new "feature" Apple has introduced for macOS 10.15), which is why you won't be able to start the snapshot simply by double-clicking after installation. Instead, you need to start the app by opening its context menu (right-click on he app) and then choose Open.
Please let me know, whether this solves the issue.
Thanks and have a great start into the new year!

Hey Hendrik,
I’m sorry but the new version of BT you just sent me (5.2.4) is useless for me: my iMac refuses to accept it. So I re-installed an elder version (5.2.2, I dont have 5.2.3 anymore)to prevent new issues.
The last few days I use this work-around:
If the file is on the NAS I choose with right mouse-click “Show Song File” from I can delete the file.
After deleting some files I can control these actions using “File/Synchronize”
If the file is on my iMac I can delete the file without getting issues.
So, for the time being, I can live with this, but...updating to 5.2.4 isnt possible. Maybe you can send me a link sp that i can download 5.2.3? Of course I hope the 5.2.4.-issue will be fixed.
Thanks for your kind help!
With regards

Hey Tom,
What do you mean with “refuses to accept it”?
Did you try to start it via the right-click as described?
Thanks,
-hendrik

I get an error-message, saying that this is a dangerous app, or something like that. I cant fix this, neither after giving BT rights in my imac

Hey Tom,
The message macOS 10.15 gives you is misleading. The snapshot I sent is only not notarized, that does not mean it's dangerous. Not having been "notarized" has been the standard for every app shipped for macOS 10.14 and earlier.
You can circumvent this "feature" by right-clicking on the app and then choosing Open from the context-menu. macOS 10.15 will still give you a warning, but it will let you start the app.
I understand that this sounds spooky and dangerous, especially, if you are not aware of what Apple's new notarization really is. Also, if you don't want to go that route, that's fair, too. You'll then simply have to wait for the next official beaTunes release (v5.2.5).
Cheers,

Well, maybe you wont brlieve me, but i cant start the app after that error-message. In the meantime I updated again to 5.2.4 and ok ai will wait till the official release of 5.2.5.
By the way: BT is veeeeeeery slow now.

Hey Tom,
Apologies, if my comments came across as not believing you. Without seeing the actual error message, it’s hard to tel what’s going on. And Apple error message related to security, especially Gatekeeper and notarization are horribly phrased.
Regarding slowness: is analysis or synchronization running? If not, please upload your logs again. I’d be happy to take a look.
Thanks and have a great start into 2020!
