I have not used BeaTunes for more than several years. I just bought the new version to work with Mac Catalina. The problem is simple to describe. From the Music window, I right click on a song (or double click on a song), and it shows the audio symbol, like it is playing, but the player actually plays a different song. The song it plays is also shown in the Music window, but just not the one I selected. At the player progress bar, it correctly displays the song that somehow it chose to play. When I go to the "get info" of a song in the Music window, and check the box "Play current song" the player then plays the correct song. The file info on the songs appears to be pointing to the correct song file.
I did a database rebuild, and the problem persists.

As a follow up, I tried dragging and dropping a song from the Music window into a playlist. It copies a different song from the Music window, instead of the one I dragged and dropped.

Further testing to narrow problem:
I removed the old Java from my Mac and installed an updated Java. Removed Beatunes and reinstalled it. Rebuilt database again. Still the same problem.
It only occurs when I apply a filter to the Music window. In that case when I right click and select play, it plays another random song from the filtered results. The play functions works in the Music window if no filter is applied. The play functions works on songs within Playlists. They play function also works when a filter is applied within playlists. For example, I have a Santana playlist, and the play function work on the songs in it. When I filter for Abraxas, the play function works on the filtered Santana playlist.
Hope this additional detail helps the developer narrow the issue. Let me know what else I can do. At this point I'm completely stumped.

Hey Russeull,
apologies for not getting back to you earlier.
beaTunes comes with its own Java, so doing anything on the system level won't have any effect.
What sort order do you use? None? Does the issue go away when you sort the main Music table somehow, e.g. by artist?

Thanks! I’ve been out of town and not at my computer. Looking forward to exploring the new software!
