Beatunes Launches Okay, But Then Seems to Crash
Beatunes launches okay, but then seems to crash before the
program opens, leaving it in an almost-openned state. Any
suggestions?
Mark

Hi,
any chance you can send me your logs? http://help.beatunes.com/kb/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatunes-... tells you where to find them and how to send them.
Thanks,
-hendrik

Hi Mark,
thanks for the logs. They don't indicate anything really wrong.
Can you please describe this "almost opened" state in a little more detail, perhaps send a screenshot?
Thanks,
-hendrik

Thanks again for getting back to me, Hendrik.
Crap! I was kind of hoping you'd have come across something in my logs and have a nice easy (and obvious) solution in-hand. :)
A picture might be worth a thousand words, but not in this case. It might be better if I were to describe what was happening in greater detail: I think I've been using Beatunes for couple of years now, so I sort of know what to expect. (By the way, Beatunes is great program and always look forward to your upgrades.) I had upgraded Beatunes to v2.1.19, but hadn't used Beatunes in a while. When I attempted to open Beatunes everything seemed to go normally, but then it would go to sleep, or something. Initially there would be a few sizable blips up in my CPU usage, as one would expect, and then it just settle back into a dormant state without Beatunes ever opening. I checked the my Task Manager and Beatunes hadn't crashed. I had quite a bit of music to analysis, so I let it run during the night hoping Beatunes might eventually kick into gear. Next morning: Nothing. It was still dormant and Beatunes hadn't even opened.
I didn't know how else to describe this situation other than to say Beatunes was in an "almost-opened" state - it just sits there in my task bar without an open window. I've tried just about everything:
- checked to see if my licence had expired.
- reloading Java.
- tried using V2.1.18, and even V2.1.17, but still nothing.
I don't know??? It's got me stumped...
Mark

Hi Mark,
there is no beaTunes 2.1.19 - 2.1.18 is the latest version.
The one you have been using (according to your logs) is 2.1.16.
Let's try the following:
Download the latest version from http://www.beatunes.com/beatunes-download.html and start it. If it does not show, please shut it down and send me a fresh set of logs.
Thanks,
-hendrik
PS: BTW, downgrading to a prior version of beaTunes is not recommended, as the internal database might not match the older version.
