How Long Should Committing Changes Take?
I am attempting to delete 20 duplicates. Beatunes has been
committing changes for roughly a half an hour now. If I attempt to
close iTunes, it reopens itself. I cannot quit beaTunes from the
dock, nor can I cancel the commit change dialog.

Suppose I could give more details. 4GB RAM, 2.2 Ghz processor. 22k song library. Not running anything else intensive.

It should not take long - however, as beaTunes is communicating with iTunes, closing iTunes during a commit, is like pulling out the carpet from underneath.
Also, on OS X, opening any iTunes dialogs will cause the communication between iTunes and beaTunes to stall, because it blocks AppleScript based communication.
If it's neither, it may be a bug - but that I can only tell from the logs (http://help.beatunes.com/faqs/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatune...).
Hope this helps,

Hi Hendrik. Thanks.
But I want to go home from work! :)
I don't see any other option than force quitting. Doesn't make sense that it's taking this long. Attaching the log.
I'm not sure if I have any iTunes dialogs open (or what they are).

Hi Jake,
an ITunes dialog is any window belonging to iTunes but its main window. E.g. the Get Info dialog.
It looks like beaTunes is stuck talking to iTunes, perhaps because an iTunes dialog is open. Since it's not reacting (and not doing anything) anymore, just kill it.

Hi Hendrik,
I have attempted to delete duplicate songs 4 times now. Twice it has work, and twice it has hung. Currently, it is not doing anything. I don't think it's related to the volume of songs I'm trying to delete... I have deleted quite a few with no problems. Attaching logs.
Can you please explain how to see if I have an iTunes dialog open, and how I can change it?
Jake

Hi Jake,
sorry for the late answer.
The logs indicate some problem with beaTunes internal database. You might want to take a look at http://help.beatunes.com/faqs/troubleshooting/beatunes-does-not-sta... I'd recommend deleting the database, unless you have something valuable (color, bpm, key) int it.
A "dialog" is simply a window that a program opens. Like a messagebox or the Get Info dialog of iTunes.
Whenever iTunes has more than just its main window open, beaTunes can't "talk" to it.
Does that clarify the "dialog" issue?

Hey Jake,
I think I may have found the source of the problem.
Could you please try out the development snapshot http://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-2-1-12-SNAPSHOT-osx.dmg and let me know, whether it works any better?
Thanks,
-hendrik

This also happening to me. I just downloaded this program yesterday and it freezes up on Committing Changes. I have no idea what Jake archived to show you, but it's been trying to remove a compilation flag for a while now. I'm also on Snow Leopard.

Well, the issue should have been fixed with 2.1.12 (which is the latest version). Committing should not take long and you should see progress in the progress bar.
If it takes longer than a couple of minutes without anything changing, please shut beaTunes down, collect the logs and start a new discussion here with your logs attached. To find the logs, please consult http://help.beatunes.com/faqs/troubleshooting/where-are-the-beatune...
Thanks,
