Can't open the application 'beaTunes2' because there is no Java runtime on this computer

I receive the error message when I go to boot beaTunes 2. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.4 on an intel Apple MacBook and have downloaded the latest JAVA ('update http://support.apple.com/downloads/Java_for_Mac_OS_X_10_6_Update...')

This followed a complete re-install of Snow Leopard and the Software Updates from Apple. When trying to launch beaTunes it initially gave the guidance 'You are trying to use BeaTunes with an outdated version of Java. Required Java version: 1.6.0_17 or later. Installed Java Version: 1.6.0_15.'

When Java is updated either by using Apple's Software Update or via Apple Support 'http://support.apple.com/downloads/Java_for_Mac_OS_X_10_6_Update_1) (I've been through this loop several times) I get the message when the App tries to launch: 'Can't open the application 'beaTunes2' because there is no Java runtime on this computer'

Its almost as if the process installs a version of Java not recognised in Safari or by beaTunes. THe earlier version works with some things but obviously has the security flaws of earlier Apple Java iterations.

Help!

Just to let you know that - thanks - I have resolved this. The solution was
to go to Java Preferences and turn on Java!No amount of un- or re-installing
seemed to override the fact that someone (possibly me!) had turned off Java
    altogether.

    The solution was shown in
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11508061&#11508061

Hope you don't have many customers this stupid!!

Well, glad you found that - I probably would not have. :-)
