Req for WavPack support

My collection of DSD files keeps growing, but unfortunately they can't share in the BeaTunes goodness.
Since WavPack can pack DSD-files now, I was wondering if we might see WavPack support in BeaTunes in the future? It would be a great way of integrating DSD-files into the BeaTunes library.

Just in case :) wavpack.com/downloads.html#documentation has info on the API and Java decoder and the tagging utility wvtag.

Playback should not really be an issue, but the library beaTunes is using for tagging does not support WavPack. So until that happens...

    Jaudiotagger supports dsf...
I suppose it would be possible to unpack the WV-file to dsf, tag and repack. No idea how cumbersome that would be, and it would serve only the subset of WV files which have dsd/dsf 'inside'. Let me guess: not really worth the effort...

WavPack offers a tagging utility with a pretty straightforward set of command line options. Would it be possible to turn this into a beatlet-thingey?
    (wavpack.com/wavpack_doc.html#wvtag)

WavPack support would look cool on the spec list wouldn't it? ;)

I have spent some time on this and believe DSF support is fairly easily possible, but had trouble finding a decent formal specification for WavPack.

File format support in beaTunes is not pluggable, which means a beaTlet is not an option.

You're welcome. Except for DSF support, nothing is planned though.

DSF support is the main thing.

    Hey Erik,

there is DSF support in the beaTunes 5.1.13. I simply enabled the already existing JAudiotagger support. Give it a shot and please let me know, if you encounter any issues. Please be aware, that this is somewhat tested. In other words: keep backups before trying this.

    Happy Easter!

    Hi Hendrik,

Looks good: dsf files are found, played, analyzed and tagged.
Except for multi-channel files it seems: "Failed to open item. Unrecognized file signature!"
I have only a few m-ch files currently in my DB, but I could could do some further testing with additional files and also with FLAC m-ch's if that would be helpful.

Thanks again for adding this feature.

    Cheers.

Could you re-produce the issue and send me your logs?

I start BT, reproduce the issue and then I get an error 413 while sending the logs (twice)...

That can happen when the package is too large, because of too many crash logs (hs_...-files)

Do you know where the log files are? This KB article describes it.
Please simply zip the whole folder and attach it to this discussion.

    Thanks!

You saw the failure during playback, right? Did analysis work?

In any case, could you please try to play those files with the current snapshot https://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-5-1-14-SNAPSHOT-x64.exe ?

It contains a change that hopefully helps converting many channel layouts to what your audio setup actually supports.

Unfortunately it doesn't in this case. I sent you the new logs.

    Hey,

Thanks for trying this. Any chance you can send me one of the multi-channel files that beaTunes does not play? I'd like to reproduce the issue.

    Thanks!
