There are actually many facets to this:

    • embedding album art that was downloaded through iTunes
    • simply supporting adding cover art in Get Info etc.
    • downloading cover art from some external source and storing it (which has some license implications)

What facet are you most interested in?
If it's download - doesn't Apple's Album Art service cover this?

Itunes stores the Artwork in its database and not in the mp3 Files. But I also use a Squeezebox Network and Foobar2000 on PCs not equipped with Itunes. And there I need Album Art too.

And, last point, when I am ready with mergeing two libraries I own the database will contain about 25000 Files. Too much for the manual way.

At the moment I use MP3 Godfather for the batch artwork update job but the results are not easy to use and very time consuming.

So, if you can provide a tool please do so. A (small) extra fee would be ok for me.

    Regards
    Richard

Well, the iTunes database is in a flat file format and one can take those image files and embed them into the music files. So in essence you wouldn't need a download from another source, but simply use what's already there... but this only works, if iTunes actually delivers the artwork you need.

A lot of my music is not available in the iTunes store. So the iTunes album art download does not work there. So i would welcome an album art search/download feature in beaTunes (from amazon database, google etc.).
I've been using iArt which was quite good, but an implementation into beaTunes would suit me more.

Maybe even a 'look for better album art' feature if the Art is smaller than the iPod/iPhone Display.
