changing key

it would be great to be able to play a song in different keys to the original

    I agree... however, this kind of feature is a little outside the scope of beaTunes.

    beaTunes wants to be a tool for analysis, metadata correction and playlist generation (in essence query by example).

    It does not want to be a music player. iTunes does a great job at that and it would be foolish to try to compete with iTunes.

    On the other end of the spectrum there are a bunch of (more or less) professional DJ tools that are excellent at playing music with all the bells and whistles a DJ might want, like pitch shift, tempo shift, cueing etc. Again, those programs are good at what they do and beaTunes does not try to compete with them.
