Perhaps you're using the app slightly differently?

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/444923582018-01-12T16:55:50Z2018-01-12T16:55:50ZActive play list changes when dragging song into another list in latest 5.5.1.0

No I’m not using it any differently. Can this feature be added to preferences to disable it?

ryantag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/444923582018-01-12T19:15:16Z2018-01-12T19:15:16ZActive play list changes when dragging song into another list in latest 5.5.1.0

Hey Ryan,

Can this feature be added to preferences to disable it?

No and please let me explain why.

I can see why you'd want a different behavior. It's appealing. And perhaps I find the time at some point to make it happen, but an additional switch in the preferences would clutter the already complicated UI even more, which I find very undesirable. So either it will be changed at some point or it will stay the same, but there won't be another checkbox in the preferences for this.

iTunes works this way so it makes no sense that beaTunes is different in this respect.

iTunes is an application developed by billion dollar company. beaTunes is not iTunes. beaTunes is not a media sales vehicle, beaTunes does not serve the purpose of installing software on iOS devices, beaTunes is not a movie player etc. There are so many ways beaTunes is different from iTunes. Arguing that iTunes has this and that will never be a good reason for me to implement anything.

Only if the feature is actually really desirable (and as I said above, I kind of tend to agree with you on your wish), there is a chance it will be implemented. Whether iTunes works the same way is very secondary to me.

Back to the problem at hand: If you'd like to avoid selecting the target playlist, you can also use Add to Playlist from the context menu. Admittedly, not the same, perhaps not as comfortable as dragging, but perhaps it's useful for you.

Cheers!

like iTune. iTunes is mostly crap., that's why I use and recommend
beaTunes. But I'm curious as to what led to the decision to change
beaTunes interface from what arguably is the norm UI for explorer
interfaces. Eg. Windows Explorer, OS X finder, Traktor, Rekordbox, Media
Monkey, countless IDEs etc. etc.

As you can see from my screen shot below, using the context menu is
hardly a scalable solution. If I don't surf the menu slowly and
accurately I need to start again. and I have a 34" monitor! Attempting
this on my laptop covers the entire screen with context menus

The thing is, it hasn't changed. There was no design decision.

BUT: I agree with you about the way it should be. With a bit of luck, I can post a dev snapshot by tomorrow, that has the desired behavior.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/444923582018-01-17T23:27:57Z2018-01-17T23:27:57ZActive play list changes when dragging song into another list in latest 5.5.1.0

Yeah not sure what happened there ..
Does the snapshot fix the issue/work as expected?
