Automatic playlist generation based on optional search criteria
In addition to the current song matching based playlist generation, it would be nice to extend the playlist generation with optional search criteria. For example, automatically generating a playlist for each album, artist etc. Using search patterns w/ and,or,not-logic would allow creation of even more complex lists. Also exporting playlists to m3u would be useful.

Just to clarify myself a bit more :) I mean a somewhat more similar functionality to smart playlists but with the ability to create multiple playlists based on a regexp style search patterns.

So in essence, add regexp to the already existing filtering that is available in the matchlist creation dialog?

And the ability to create multiple playlists based on that. Now the matchlist uses 1) matching ruleset defined in Preferences and 2) additional rules defined in the dialog. What I would need is to create
- separate playlists for a number of albums - separate playlists containing all albums for some artists (or some other search criteria)
Thanks!

Well, "separate playlists for a number of albums - separate playlists containing all albums for some artists" - you can already create those with smart playlist in iTunes, why would you want to do the same thing with beaTunes?
I guess, I must be missing something..

I need to create multiple playlists, not just one smart playlist, preferrably in m3u format. You see, I'm using a number of different devices for listening to music, not just iTunes. Not all of have advanced browsing capabilities but most of them seem to understand playlists.
An example case of this would be to create a separate playlist for each album in the library.

OK - I understand.
This does not sound like a core beaTunes feature to me, but something that could be implemented as a plugin.
