does the
Date Modified
perhaps already cover your needs?

Right now I'm having to manually create playlists in iTunes to manage my changes from beaTunes.

How does iTunes help here?

-hendrik

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/430956462017-07-29T13:00:07Z2017-07-31T14:40:18ZPlease provide a column for "last analyzed", perhaps some sort of stats column. Basically a change history for tracks.

Hello,

Well, you should be able to tell /me/ that, right? The 5k songs I've run
so far, numerous entries have a Date Modified in February. Since Color
is new data, and these tracks have a Color value added in the past few
days, I don't think the Date Modified column does what I'm looking for.
(I'm a little curious why analysis didn't update this regardless.)

What I want is to have access to info that's /strictly/ beaTunes
activity. The existing Date Modified sounds like it might possibly be
updated by iTunes, or even the OS. So unless I put everything on hold
while I'm running beaTunes, I can't "trust" the Date Modified field to
accurately convey whether or not I've run a beaTunes analysis.

I could see having one or more columns of data that shows what beaTunes
has done to a file, and when it was done, being valuable for a multitude
of reasons.

As for the question of how iTunes is helping be with Analysis, I'm using
it to split up the data in to more manageable pieces. This is necessary
because there doesn't seem to be a means within beaTunes to determine
when/if analysis has been done. (Or if analysis has been done with my
most recent settings.)

The point of this suggestion being, there doesn't seem to be a way to
know what files beaTunes has Analyzed, or Inspected without manually
managing/tracking it all via iTunes. This becomes more of an issue with
the size of the library.

e.g. If I decide to change my Reference Level for ReplayGain, what means
do I have of determining if I've Analyzed a given file after that change?

scooterbagatag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/430956462017-07-30T13:31:08Z2017-07-31T14:40:16ZPlease provide a column for "last analyzed", perhaps some sort of stats column.
If you are running an iTunes-based collection, the date-modifed field is managed by iTunes, not beaTunes. So when beaTunes updates something, it does not explicitly update that field. iTunes may or may not realize something has changed and update it, but beaTunes won't know about this until you synchronize.

I believe you're right.

The filesystem timestamp should show you the last mod, even by beaTunes, but only if data is actually embedded....

What I don't understand is why you split stuff up in iTunes and not beaTunes? What's the advantage of using iTunes here?

Pretty much none. I see your point.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/430956462017-08-01T03:25:39Z2017-08-01T03:25:41ZPlease provide a column for "last analyzed", perhaps some sort of stats column. Basically a change history for tracks.

Ahh, now I understand what you're asking... I used smart playlists to split everything up. I use a labyrinth of smart playlists to manage the music on my phone. It's a moving target.

Starting with a playlist of "songs I have on my phone" then numerous other playlists that were essentially "not the preceding playlists".

Once the entire library was accounted for, I dumped the smart playlists into static playlists.

The plan being to get a feel for the ReplayGain2 reference level using the "songs on my phone" playlist as a testing ground. (I'm confused as to what the varying Reference Level options represent. I'm working under the assumption that ReplayGain2 is equivalent to the previous version's default setting for ReplayGain.)

scooterbagatag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/430956462017-08-15T08:58:00Z2017-08-15T08:58:00ZPlease provide a column for "last analyzed", perhaps some sort of stats column. Basically a change history for tracks.

Hey Scott,

v5.0.4 has a new column "Analysis Date", which shows the date of the last analysis. After you update, this field is empty (no data available about past analysis runs), but should be updated with dates for each subsequent analysis run.
