I use one display for that and do all my other work on a second display. Big window, really hard to find the currently playing track using the tiny audio wave icon. See images.
I get that you can't just use the select song highlight method to show the currently playing track because then there would be confusion as to which one is the selected song(s) and which is the currently playing one, but can you not employ a different reserved color to highlight the whole row of the currently playing song, different from the highlight color for selected tracks—and if the selected song IS the currently playing one just increase the brightness of the color? Something to consider down the line if not too complicated to code I hope…

dzturbdtag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/429872992017-07-24T14:46:51Z2017-07-24T14:46:51ZBetter highlight of currently playing track?

Thanks for the suggestion. A first step might be to make the little speaker icon larger or add a circular backdrop to the speaker, that highlight it.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/429872992017-08-15T08:55:58Z2017-08-15T08:55:58ZBetter highlight of currently playing track?

v5.0.4 has a slightly larger speaker icon.
I know this is not really what you suggested, but it should be a step in the right direction.

hendrik
