Writing Key/BPM to Mp3 Tags
Hey guys,
Is there the possibility of Beatunes writing the analyzed
information (i.e. Key) to a Mp3 Tag.as I want to use the Keys in
Traktor/serato etc?
Cheers Johny

Yes - there is an option in the General Preferences to embed non-iTunes info like that straight into your files.
Unfortunately, it only gets written, whenever you change something.

If I want to show the key, bpm and color information in other dj programs or mp3 players like foobar, how does the non-itunes info get embedded? and does it have specific script like %beatuneskey% or something? Thanks!

Hi,
Before calculating the key etc turn embedding of non-iTunes fields on
(in general prefs).
Software that knows how to read the corresponding id3 tags should be
able to display the values.
Thanks,

i just wrote a mp3tag action that copies the key + the bpm to the comment field and converts the key from "Circle of fifths" to "Camelot wheel".
hope that one helps if you want the "mixed in key"-feeling in traktor or serato

That sounds pretty cool...
What's this mta file extension?
Would you want to repost this as jar or zip?

mta is the fileformat actions are saved in mp3tag ( http://mp3tag.org ) but it is plain text so you can open/write the mta files with notepad.
to use it just put it into %ProgramFiles%/mp3tag/actions/ (if i remember right) and choose the action from the actions menu. have fun :)

a little update to the mta file. 4 "Circle of fifths" to "Camelot wheel" conversions was named wrong but working fine now

Ok - just to make this perfectly clear for others:
Your extension is not a plugin for beaTunes, but an extension for mp3tag.

it is an action for mp3tag and not a plugin for beatunes. right. but it depents on the beatunes made analysis so i thought it would be best posted here :/

Hi,
if i enable this it deletes my ReplayGain Tags from Foobar.... :(
Any Way to avoid this?
Support Staff 11 Posted by Hendrik Schreib... on 09 Feb, 2011 07:54 AM
Which version of beaTunes are you using?
12 Posted by der.internet on 09 Feb, 2011 12:23 PM
its the up to date version. also i want to make clear i dont mean the Replaygain of iTunes (it's called Sound Check there i guess), What im talking about is the tag album_gain and track_gain from foobar.
But i dont know... if Beatunes is screwing my proper Tags it would be risky to use for me.

Hm.. please try 2.1.18 (released today) on a test song.
Does it still mess up your tags?
If it does, do you know, which id3 tags foobar uses for replaygain?
Thanks,

I will try this :)
These the foobar replaygain tags:
%replaygain_album_gain% %replaygain_album_peak% %replaygain_track_gain% %replaygain_track_peak%
thx for your support :)

Not sure what those are, but they don't look like id3 tags.

these are non-standard tags i guess, for Reference see http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=Replay_Gain_specifica...

Thanks for sending the link.
My guess is, that the issue has been fixed in 2.1.18, because it contains a fix dealing with TXXX frames.
But, you might want to check on some not so important files...
