I have a dilemma - I need to generate/update an itunes xml, but I
do not want itunes on my system.<br>
As to why - DJ Programs use the iTunes XML as a way to dynamically
import (ever changing) playlists and it is the only way to easily
feed library changes to multiple programs, if one does have to use
more than one... i.e. I use Traktor & Serato, and am evaluating
Rekordbox once their DVS system is out...<br>
I'm close to writing my own itunes xml builder (from m3u) as I have
not found anoher program to do what I need - which is to alter the
itunes xml files collection & playlist data - which I in theory
could do from iTunes... but, I also have most of my library in
.flac format, which iTunes has been made to ignore on purpose...
and I am not converting all to .alac (which in turn is not
understood by some other programs... also, I am not helping Apple
to erradicate flac usage in favour of alac...).<br>
Anyhow, now my question:<br>
- can I use beaTunes to edit an itunes xml file (but without iTunes
present on a windows 7 / 8 / 10 machine) ?? - in an old blog post I
saw that flac files can only be used if file based beaTunes
structure is used - but, from testing writing the iTunes xml from
scratch, I can inject flac files into the xml, and Traktor/Serato
get access to them still (it's just that iTunes wouldn't... :D). So
is tjhere a way to force beaTunes to write flac info into itunes
collection & playlists (I doubt it... but wanted to check
before spending a few days on writing the itune xml builder) ?
Cheers.<br>

<p>beaTunes never writes an iTunes XML file. But you can write
custom playlist exporters, if you are so inclined.</p>
<p>An example can be found on <a href="https://www.beatunes.com/en/beatlet-playlistexporter.html">https://www.beatunes.com/en/beatlet-playlistexporter.html</a></p>
<p>Hope this helps,</p>

thanks a lot for the reply.<br>
Oh, I gathered from reading that beaTunes is editing the itunes xml
file, which in turn itunes then picks up the updates from (from
beaTunes).<br>
Bummer, the beaTunes does not solve my problem unfortunately.<br>
Cheers.<br>

<p>iTunes <strong>never</strong> reads the XML file, it's only for
export. So it does not make sense for beaTunes to manipulate it.
When beaTunes modifies something in the iTunes database it always
does so via the AppleScript or COM APIs.</p>
