Color-code Cover-art - how?

I've read the following topic, made in 2013:

What I wanna do is replacing cover-art in my tracks, with the colors assigned by Beatunes.

Kinda like I did with my "colorized key-code art" I used with Mixed In Key's output:

Is that possible?
How should I approach?

Making several playlists based on color within Beatunes?
A plugin perhaps?

In I wrote that colors are music collection specific — this is not true anymore for beaTunes 4!!

And yes, this sounds like something that's possible. How much of a programmer are you? Do you know any of the supported scripting languages and/or Java fairly well?

I'd use a LibraryBatchAction that reads the color, creates a jpeg of that color on the fly and then embeds that jpeg.

    Hi Hendrik,

Glad it's possible, though I'm a noob in programming :/

Would u give this a try yourself?
I will be thanking you forever.

I mean, this would be next-level shit =) and another reason to buy BeaTunes
    for anyone out there...

    Let me know,

    Hey Bas,

please find a corresponding Groovy beaTlet attached.

To run it, install it, restart beaTunes and you'll find a new menu item under Tools.

== Please note that the beaTlet replaces all artwork for all files in your library. ==

It looks like it's working, when tested it on 1 folder with 10 mp's innit database-wise...
But with my 9900+ library I get stuck with either one of the messages, see attachments.
    And then beaTunes hangs...

    My computer-specs:
    Windows 7 64-bit | Intel Quad-Core Q9550 2.83ghz / 8GB RAM DDR2 / Nvidia GTX 770 4GB

    Hey Bas,

please follow the steps described in and increase the memory parameter to 1G. That should solve the issue.

To avoid database corruption you might also want to run Tools -> Repair Database.

    That worked 4 me.

But there's still something strange going on...
Some of the tracks are not getting the embedded color-work.
When I look at the stamp-date last changed, they are not touched.

What I tried to solve it, but didnt work:
    - Removed all Covers with 2.69
    - Installed Java 8 Update 40
    - Imported mp3-collection again with beaTunes 4.0.22 thru New Library -> Directory-based
    - Repaired database
    - Embedded Color Artwork

    See attachment.

    I think I solved it!

    - Rebuilt database with beaTunes
    - Embedded Color Artwork -> still some not showing
    - Took the 1st folder in my Music/Singles folder for testing
    - Added a dummy-cover in the ones that werent embedded with Color Artwork
    - Embedded Color Artwork again -> still some showing the dummy-cover
    - Removed all covers from the mp3's with Mp3tag in this 1 folder (of 30 folders)
    - Embbeded Color Artwork again: beaTunes takes alot more time to process this time

Endresult: all Color Artwork showing in every mp3 (incl. the other 29 folders)
Not sure where the problem was tho, but hey, I'm happy it works.

Sweet! Glad this works for you.

    • Installed Java 8 Update 40

beaTunes comes with a bundled Java Runtime Environment, so installing Java as a separate program is not necessary.

That's really kind, but don't worry about it.

Writing that beaTlet took me not even 30min. It's really simply—check out the code with some text editor. It's trivial.

The least thing I could do is share this tool to the rest of the world here:

    Thanks again!

    Hey Bas,

color is actually a little less than you make it out to be. Really, it's only about frequency distribution in a certain segments of a song.

    But! Thanks for the post.
