<p>the answer to this question depends on what kind of library you

<div>That article looks like it points to a very useful feature
indeed - embedding non-itunes fields into the track itself. Nothing
would make me happier! However, there isn't that option available

Essentially, there isn't that option available in the version of

Wait!<br>

I just read the last paragraph, sure enough, there it is. The

folder-based libraries.) Thanks for your help, support staff. I'll
buy your program, for sure. I love it. Great piece of software you

<div>
<div>Okay, hendrik. Not quite done yet! One final question! Here is
the scenario:<br>
<br>
I have my music collection stored in different folders across
different hard drives. When beatunes starts up, it loads a
"library" of one of the folders that I have been using recently -
but I can't find an option anywhere that allows me to see my entire
collection. If I have three hard drives connected, and analyzed
music on each of them, is there an option to allow me to see my
entire library - everything that beatunes has analyzed, all at the
same time? Otherwise when it makes a playlist, it only pulls songs
from a fraction of the music I have available. The 'music library'
pulldown in the options screen only allows me to select one of my
libraries at a time. It would be verrrrrrrry useful to be able to
merge multiple folders before making playlists.<br>
<br>
Any solutions? It seems like a relatively simple feature to
have.<br>
<br>
Thanks again,<br>

<div>Great support work, my friend. Those solutions should do
nicely. I will likely use the second option and leave Beatune's
internal library system unchanged; this will give me the
flexibility to merge libraries on the fly, and unmerge them by
removing the links. Great solution. I'll try that out this
afternoon.<br>

I don't really mind if beatunes takes a few minutes to sync up. I
guess I'll see how long it takes when I get the first batch going.

nicely. I will likely use the second option and leave Beatune's
internal library system unchanged; this will give me the
flexibility to merge libraries on the fly, and unmerge them by
removing the links. Great solution. I'll try that out this
afternoon.<br>

<p>In a way it is. beaTunes has the capability, but it's not
supported directly via the UI.</p>
<h2>Option 1</h2>
<p>Shut down beaTunes<br>
Open the file <code>c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\tagtraum
industries\beaTunes\preferences2.xml</code> with a simple editor
like Notepad.<br>
Find a section that has entries like this:</p>
<pre>
<code><file-collection persistentid="834F24D7388C44D7" name="FileSystem">
<root>c:/folder1</root>
</file-collection></code>
</pre>
<p>Find a <code><root></code> element that looks like one of
the three folders you want to combine.<br>
Then add two more <code><root></code> elements to the same
<code><file-collection></code> like this:</p>
<pre>
<code><file-collection persistentid="834F24D7388C44D7" name="FileSystem">
<root>c:/folder1</root>
<root>c:/folder2</root>
<root>c:/folder3</root>
</file-collection></code>
</pre>
<p>Save the file and start beaTunes. If things are correct, one of
your three libraries will now also contain the other two (you can
tell in the general preferences, that the name ends in <code>,
...</code>). You might have to sync via <code>File</code> ->
<code>Synchronize</code>.</p>
<h2>Option 2</h2>
<p>Create a folder that contains symbolic links to the other three
folders and create a library based on that folder. If songs don't
show up, you might still need to add a configuration file:</p>
<ul>
<li>shut down beaTunes</li>
<li>open the file <code>c:\Program
Files\beaTunes4\beaTunes4.l4j.ini</code></li>
<li>change <code>-Dsymlinks.follow=false</code> to
<code>-Dsymlinks.follow=true</code></li>
<li>restart beaTunes</li>
<li>you might have to sync via <code>File</code> ->
<code>Synchronize</code>.</li>
</ul>
<p>Hope this helps,</p>

<div>Okay, hendrik. Not quite done yet! One final question! Here is
the scenario:<br>
<br>
<br>
Any solutions? It seems like a relatively simple feature to
have.<br>
<br>
Thanks again,<br>

<div>That article looks like it points to a very useful feature
indeed - embedding non-itunes fields into the track itself. Nothing
would make me happier! However, there isn't that option available
on the version I've just downloaded. Is that a "purchased only"
option?<br>
<br>
Essentially, there isn't that option available in the version of
Beatunes that I'm using right now (downloaded three days ago).<br>
<br>
Wait!<br>
<br>
I just read the last paragraph, sure enough, there it is. The
information is embedded in the tracks. Wonderful. (I'm using
folder-based libraries.) Thanks for your help, support staff. I'll
buy your program, for sure. I love it. Great piece of software you
have there, thanks again.<br>

<p>Hey Joe,</p>
<p>the answer to this question depends on what kind of library you
have.<br>
Is it folder or iTunes-based?</p>
<p>In any case, please read <a href=

this article</a>. It probably answers most of your questions.</p>
<p>Cheers,</p>

<p>Sorry if this is a common question, but I'm partway through my
2-week trial period (and loving it!!). I'm just trying to guess at
problems that might come up in the future before I buy. So far,
though, this is amazing. Even playlists with a 30% match sound
good!</p>
