My itunes library (all ALAC) id 5.5 terrabytes, does beatunes
manage such a large library?

The size in bytes does not matter. Instead the number of songs
is relevant. Also, how is the library connected to your computer?
SSD, internal HDD, USB2, USB3, NAS? The faster the connection the
better.

What about yosemite?

No known issues.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/350170742014-10-22T05:17:17Z2014-10-22T07:44:53Zlarge Itunes library

Hi,
Thanks for the reply!
I have about 167000tracks and they are connected through firewire
to a nas
drive (drobo) to a Makbookpro.
Will it work?

you've got me a little puzzled. Strictly speaking, NAS(=Network
Attached Storage) connected via FireWire is by definition not
network attached.

Drobo == DropBox? If the data is in the cloud, this will not
work. The data needs to be locally stored.

To my knowledge, FireWire has not been built into Macs for quite
a while, which seems to imply fairly old hardware. My guess is, it
will work, but it will be quite slow due to the size of the
collection and the slow disk I/O (compared to an internal hard
drive or an SSD).

Also, because of your large collection, beaTunes may benefit
from a little more RAM than usual. To grant it, please

start beaTunes (so that it runs at least once).

after it started up, shut it down again, without doing anything
else.

follow the advice given
here and increase the memory to 2GB

start beaTunes up again (you can verify the memory setting in
the About dialog)

(I'm assuming you have at least 4GB of physical RAM
installed)

My guess is, this will not be very much fun. But since the trial
is free, you might as well give it a shot.

Cheers,

Any ideas?

delete the folder

Then start beaTunes—startup may take a while.
If something goes wrong, please send me a fresh set of logs. It's
usually easiest to simply zip the complete beaTunes logs folder, as
the logs compress very well.

Thank you,
