BPM check on line database
Hi,
I downloaded the evaluation version ob deaTunes, and I'd like to add the BPM numbers to my iTunes library.
Can you please give me some insight on how the "use online resources" feature works? When I analyze all of the songs in my library, beaTunes appears to send data to online resources and then calculates the BPM data. Does it use the online info if available, or does it always use the calculated value? What on-line databases does beaTunes use?
Currently I don't have any BPM data in my library and I would like to get BPM numbers as accurate as possible. I'd appreciate any help!
Thanks,
David

Hi,
use online resourcesworks like this:In most cases you will get the best results with beaTunes using the Rayshoot algorithm with the BPM range set to 70-140 and online resources turned off.

Why would the rayshoot algorithm be better than the online database?
Is the database filled with unreliable information?
Is the database more useful for other song data besides bpm?

It's not necessarily better than the online database, but it lets you control what's happening better.
The database is filled with data, that people either entered manually or computed with the Rayshoot algorithm.
The most common BPM error is the factor 2. The "correct" value sometimes depends on perception. I.e. some people say a song is 70BPM, another person says it's 140BPM.
Other values like Color or Key are less subjective.
