beaTunes 4
I am evaluating beaTunes 4.
I launched beaTunes 4 but where are preferences settings or "About.." hidden ?
And why does it open iTunes and leave it "running" or just in the background ? Why ?

You can use Command ⌘ instead of Control ^ on Mac

Hi,
I assume you're on OS X.
Pretty much every application on OS X has a Preferences menu item in its application menu, the one named like the application, right next to the Apple menu. That's also where you can find beaTunes'.
Alternatively, you can open it with ⌘, (i.e. Command-Comma).
The About menu is also in beaTunes' application menu.
Regarding iTunes, if you start beaTunes and run it with an iTunes-based music library, it actively communicates changes to iTunes. For that it uses AppleScript. And for that to work, iTunes must be running in the background.
beaTunes can also work with folder-based libraries, however, changes are then not reflected in iTunes right away, as iTunes does not notice changes in audio files until it plays them.
Cheers,

Yes, OS X Maverick.
Well I don't know what's wrong with the beaTunes 4 that i have installed but there is no selection in the Apple menu for a Preferences menu.
In the Apple Menu there are two drop down menus: beaTunes Help. The in the drop down menu for beaTunes Services (with nothing to select) Hide Hide Show Quit.
Tried your Command comma with no luck.
I'm getting this hassle because it's a demo/trial version and i have to buy it to get the for real application ?
If that's the case then that is a very mean attitude by the developer.

I'm the developer and I can assure you that's not the case.
But I'm a little puzzled by what you describe you see. Can you please send me a screenshot (Command (⌘)-Shift-3, as described here)?
Thanks,

Well, I don't understand what happened here but after downloading/installing your current/latest version 4.0.3 now i do get the "normal" apple menu items.
However, when i launch beaTunes the splash screen ( very pretty) just hangs there for ever before beaTunes is usable and clicking the splash screen does nothing to speed up the opening.
I have attached a screen shot to show/ask why are there two Help in the Apple menu bar?
The other beef i have is why is there no typical check for updates? Why do I have to manually download and replace? Not a very elegant process and somewhat old OS 9 way of updating. Hummm???
Thanks and anticipating your reply.

That second
Helpmenu is really odd.Is anyone else having this issue?
Actually, the way beaTunes does updates is the way it was recommended by Apple for a long time for OS X, if I remember correctly.
However, I am aware that there are more convenient ways to update an app. Perhaps this will change in the future.

That second help somewhat indicates to me that beaTunes 4 is somewhat still in beta.
Self-updating seems to be very much the norm from all the applications i have/use. Must admit i'm an app junky and can't stop trying them.
I hope beaTunes 4 developer programmes self updating into the programme.

Regarding the Help menu - you are the first person to mention this to and I cannot reproduce the issue myself so far.

OK, well I guess I'll wait for another update and meantime will also wait before plunking down 40 bucks. So thanks for the free trial run for however long that lasts.

I had a couple of people install the software on different OS X system and none reported two Help menus... Just being curious: Is there anything special about your system?

I don't think so since no other app shows up with 2 help menus.
Just now I wanted to have another look see: launched BTunes4 and the splash screen just sits on the desktop and the Apple menu bar only shows beaTunes4 and Help menu and then by going to the Apple menu and selecting BTunes4 drop down menu preferences the programme wakes up and the Apple menu shows all the typical drop down menus albeit 2 help menus.
ITunes is running in the background.
I've done repair permissions, defrag the directory with DiskWarrior 4, used TechToolPro 7 to check directory and optimize with no other application showing 2Help menus.
Later on today/tomorrow will unistall BTunes4 with AppDelete and re-install. By then i may be down to perhaps 3 or 4 free runs. Oh well.
If you have any ideas or guidance to somehow solve this wacky problem please let me know.

I'm sorry, but since I can't reproduce it, I'm out of suggestions.

Do you think that because I have version 3 installed it somehow interferes with version 4 ?
Support Staff 13 Posted by Hendrik Schreib... on 12 Aug, 2014 06:18 PM
I don't think so, since I also have both versions installed and don't see this issue.
