A question about lyrics...
Recently, I decided to start embedding/search for lyrics data
for my music.
I've tried a few apps, but have not yet tried this with
Beatunes.
Question - would it be possible to have a setting in a future version of Beatunes where you could set it to ignore "Name" information that is found within brackets, such as (Live), or [remix], etc?
I've set-up my database so that concert albums have this in the "Name" field, so that live performances would not be mixed with studio recordings (from a ratings perspective).
The problem is that in such cases, lyrics are often not found because the name does not match with the data in the lyrics database.
If not possible with Beatunes (now and the future), does anyone know of a Windows based lyrics program that could do this?

First of all: beaTunes is not a great app for downloading lyrics. It simply scrapes some sites and embeds the data. There are better apps out there. (and yes, I am the author)
That aside: your suggestion sounds like a good idea. I will consider it for beaTunes 4.

Would you have have an app that you would recommend?
Or, to rephrase it, what is the lyric app that you authored?

I haven't written one myself and to be honest I haven't checked out any other apps recently. Sorry to not be more helpful.

Would still love this kind of feature. Don't make me beg!!!
I've been using "iTunes Lyrics 1.3"
https://ilyrics.codeplex.com/releases/view/38156
It also does not have the capability of ignoring extra bracketed title data, so when a song name has extra details (like "live" or "featuring..."), it does not match up with anything.
The other annoying thing is that it often embeds code with the lyrics.
For example, here is what is embedded for one song:
"');var c=function(){cf.showAsyncAd(opts)};if(window.cf)c();else{cf_async=!0;var r=document.createElement("script"),s=document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0];r.async=!0;r.src="//srv.tonefuse.com/showads/showad.js";r.readyState?r.onreadystatechange=function(){if("loaded"==r.readyState||"complete"==r.readyState)r.onreadystatechange=null,c()}:r.onload=c;s.parentNode.insertBefore(r,s)};}})();</script>I come home, in the mornin' light
My mother says "When you gonna live your life right?"
Oh momma dear, we're not the fortunate ones
And girls, they wanna have fun
Oh, girls just wanna have fun
Huh!
I cut out the rest of the lyrics for this song.
As such, would also appreciate some batch lyric editing functionality that could detect code data and remove it. It was the best and most reliable Windows iTunes lyric app I could find.
Lastly, it would be super awesome if there were some way to distinguish whether the lyrics field was filled, and thus be able to know what needs to still be tracked down. The ultimate dream would be to have a way to distinguish songs with vocals, and songs without.
One can dream!

I doubt this was produced by a recent version of beaTunes.
What happens when you delete the current lyrics for that song and then let beaTunes re-fetch it? E.g. via the

dialog. Also, a bunch of different additions like "[live]" have been removed from the title before lookup for a while (11/2014)—however, to recognize such additions they have to be in some sort of brackets.
Try fetching LastFM tags and search for "instrumental" or "vocal"...

Hey Hendrik. Sorry for the confusion, but I was not saying that Beatunes produced this. I thought I had made clear that this was from using "iTunes Lyrics 1.3".
I have not used the lyrics fetch option in Beatunes 4. Are you saying it has improved since Beatunes 3? The only reason I have been using "iTunes Lyrics 1.3" is because at the time of testing, it was the most reliable Windows iTunes based lyric fetcher for my eclectic music tastes.
I was not aware that improvements had been made for Beatunes lyric fetching, and was following your advice from an earlier comment in this thread, where you said: "beaTunes is not a great app for downloading lyrics. It simply scrapes some sites and embeds the data. There are better apps out there"
If you are saying that Beatunes 4 lyric fetching has improved, I will likely scan my entire library, with the selection to replace values checked off. If you don't mind, can you mention what has improved?

Yes, it has. It still isn't the most glorious beaTunes feature, but it's definitely improved.
In principal that is still true. At least I assume that there are better apps out there...
beaTunes still scrapes webpages, but ignore lyrics that have code in them and attempts to find multiple sources for the same lyrics and only, if the sources agree, actually imports them.
Perhaps you want to do some manual testing via
