Convert Itunes soundcheck info to replaygain
Hello,
I have a lot of music files (mp3, m4a), They all have itunes
soundcheck info. So if I play them with itunes they are all on the
same output level. Because I now prefer to playback my music with
foobar (or musicbee) I want to know if it is possible to convert
(or write) the soundcheck info to replaygain. I noticed that if I
runs Beatunes (still using the trial version) and I import my
itunes libary, there is a field with replaygain info (with values
in it), (non of my tracks have ever been through replaygain with
another program).
So in short can I put the replaygain vallues created by Beatunes
inside my music files, so that foobar are another music player with
replaygain suport can use it to play my music on the same
level?

Hi,
beaTunes will not write the Soundcheck values to the Replaygain tags.
However, if you run beaTunes' Replaygain analysis task, it will update both the Replaygain tags and the Soundcheck tags. So Foobar should be able to pick up the Replaygain values.
Hope this answers your question,

Hello Hendrik,
Thanks for your fast reply, I was hoping that I could avoid the analysis task. Beacause my computer is a little bit slow and I've got a lot of music files. So I takes a verry long time to do the analysing. Do you think it would be possible in futher updates to add this option? (specialy because there are values inside the replaygain field when I use Beatunes, so in some sort of way Beatunes creates replaygain values from the itunes libary)

Hi,
thinking about it..
Under Tools there is a function called "Embed non-iTunes fields".
Starting in beaTunes 3.0.3 this will also write ReplayGain values.
Perhaps that's a solution for you.

Thanks again,
At the moment I am testing if it's working. I created a new (small libary) in itunes. Put in some music files. Run beatunes (choose the new libary) songs apear in beatunes with replay gain values already in it. Choose option: "Embed non-iTunes fields". Dit a check with mp3tagger (and foobar) no replaygain values in the files. Then I did a new replaygain action in Beatunes (old values change (but I think that beacause soundcheck uses a different algorithm In comparison to replaygain. Now the replaygain info is visible in the music files. So for the moment it looks likes running replaygain is the only working possibility. Still find it interresting that Beatunes is still somehow able to read the soundcheck info and translates it to replaygain values. For example if i put in the reply gain values (showing up in beatunes, before doing a replaygain check) manualy in to the files with a mp3-tag editior the make sense. I gonna do some more testing. Suggestions are more than welcome.

With the current 3.0.2 my suggestions definitely does not work. 3.0.3 will be a different story.
Are you on Windows or OS X?

Hi,
I'am on Windows (sounds like a verry bad drug addiction :-) ).
Thanks for making it clear. I'am looking forward to the new 3.0.3 version.

Hi,
if you're curious, you can try out the latest dev snapshot at http://www.beatunes.com/download/beaTunes-3-0-3-SNAPSHOT-jre-win.exe
