1. Song length - I can't find a column for song length (equivalent value in Windows Explorer is called "length" and it denotes how much time in minutes:seconds the song is). I find this very useful as I need to edit songs in my playlist that are too long (ex. songs of dance style Quickstep should be <2:30).
2. Dance style - I track songs based on their dance style (ex. Cha, Tango, etc.). Do you recommend I do this as a tag or re-write the genre field? Note - some dances have more than one style - Cha/East Coast Swing.
3. Can I level track volume across all tracks for a playlist? I see the audio normalization feature in analyze, but I'm not clear which items to check to have it reflected in my ITunes playlist.

   Hey Peter,

   1. Song length: That can be found in the "Time" column
      
   2. I would put this into a custom field, not the genre field, but it's totally up to you.
      
   3. Track volume in beaTunes either works per album or per track (not per playlist). To approximate per playlist, normalize all tracks in the playlist with track replaygain. This link shows how it's done.

   Thank you for your help!

   When I add the time column, they all read "continuous". The only other
   column with the word time in it is time signature and there is no values.
   Other suggestions?

   I think it might be related to a problem where the app wasn't properly
   installed (see second attachment) which is causing other problems like
   periodically not fully syncing with ITunes. I've tried uninstalling and
   reinstalling the app, but I don't think its fully clearing stuff out of the
   registry. Suggestions on how to get a truly clean install?

   Hi Peter,

   there seems to be an issue communicating with iTunes. Can you please shut both beaTunes and iTunes down and then just start beaTunes? It should start iTunes then... If it does not start iTunes, please let me know.

   Once that is done, synchronize via File -> Synchronize.... Does this succeed?

   Then (regardless whether sync was successful or not) please enable the Location column, if it is not already enabled. One way to do this is to right-click on the table header and then select File -> Location in the popup menu.

   What location does beaTunes show for these Continuous songs?

   Sorry about the delay in replying. The synchronize command does succeed and I enabled location as you asked. All the times are also fixed, so thank you!

   You've answered all my previous questions. Two new ones:
   1. How do I get time signature to populate? I don't see anything in the manual, FAQ, or options about it. One web article mentioned from 2015 mentioned it was not reliable, but that's all I found.
   2. You recommended in a 2016 article on BPM the following options be set:
   Algorithm: OnsetPeak
   Online Resources: OFF
   BPM Range: Automatic
   It isn't clear to me how I would set these.

   Quick answer:

   1. The time signature may be recognized as part of the BPM analysis. But my earlier comment is still true: it’s not very reliable.
   2. I’m beaTunes 5 you cannot choose the algorithm anymore. The default is best. But you can still choose a range and online sources or not (in the analysis options dialog that is shown after you click on “analyze”). Online resources OFF and range Automatic are still the best options.
