Question about what tag fields are written to during analysis

Long story short, I am wanting to reinstall - as a former user- and use beaTunes to analyse my library, mainly so I can create a bunch of match lists. I am specifically looking though to not have the program write the MusicBrainz artist ID and other MB values to the ID3 tags. The reason for this is that I also use Emby media server software and if there these values are written to the tags the software splits a compilation album (for example) into as many different albums and it’s a mess. I have clarified with Emby that this is a known issue.

I stripped all these values from the tags for my entire library but then ran beaTunes. Using the default settings I limited to analysis rather than inspection and to my horror found that these values had been re-added to the file tags, leading to the complete mess in Emby. So before I reinstall beaTunes and try again, I want to clarify the following: a) In beaTunes is there a way of ensuring these fields are not added and b) if so, what are the specific settings I need to use? In the FAQs I can’t see an answer to this, unless I have missed it.

Thanks in advance for your help with this

    Hey there,

Short answer: There is no way to categorically block beaTunes from adding identifiers to your ID3 tags.

Long answer: Whether beaTunes adds IDs depend on which analysis tasks you run. Specifically, the analysis task "Import Meta data" always adds IDs, if it finds any. Which other analysis tasks are you interested in?

Thanks Hendrik - thankfully it looks like these fields aren't filled in if 'import metadata' is left unchecked in the analysis options box. Thanks for your help.

If you want to be dead-certain, try it out with a couple of files that you have backups for!
