My other question is i sometimes write a Year/Date Tag as "2005-2015" if for example i know its around that time but not the exact Year. But BT displays this kinda Funky as my example above it will display as "2172" for Year.

Interesting.. Can you please send a file that has this, i.e.
2005-2015
. I'd like to look into it.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022021-12-23T14:37:42Z2021-12-23T14:37:44ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

Here is one that display this strange Year result in BT.

To the first part of my question about trying to get BT to return more accurate release years if check the box to 'force lookup by fingerprint not metadata' it can return the release year to tracks instead of compilation release year more reliably, so far though only tested with a few Albums ect.

daztag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022021-12-28T12:28:07Z2021-12-28T12:28:07ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

Thanks for that file. The year parser is a little over-eager in its assumptions. It will be different in 5.2.26, i.e. in line with what Windows shows you.

BTW: Indeed, according to the ID3 specs, that field must only be 4 chars long.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022022-01-19T16:20:13Z2022-01-19T16:20:14ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

As an addition to the Year befuddley i am getting some strange results in 'certain' Genre Tags.(i added onto to this rather than make a new thread cause its related ect)

Some examples would be when i set BT to fill out some missing Genres information and it comes back with a couple of entries.

Examples are displaying Funk(42) or Electronica(3) or Classic Soul(14) or R&B(42)

There are various others, i think most relate to when a Genre is muliti genre.
Its probably only 5% of files it does this too and kinda random cause it will name other with the same mulit genre fine on the same scan ect.
Sometimes it will display as normally in BT but then when i open the file in Explorer or Foobar or Rekordbox or maybe MP3tag it has the () additions ect.

Its just a quirk i am trying to understand and only appears to effect a small number of files just trying to understand why and what to do?

**I gotta add though this program is pretty fantastic for the most part :)

daztag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022022-01-20T12:14:26Z2022-01-20T12:14:26ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

Hey,

trying to understand this: Can you please send a beaTunes screenshot and an audio file that shows this?

Thanks,

Screenshot of it open in Beatunes, Foobar2000, Windows Exporer and MP3tag with the extended Tags dialogue ect.
Got plenty of other similar examples of Genre displaying normal in BT but with () in other programs if you would like more???
Rekordbox too will often show the () additions to the Genre.

daztag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022022-01-28T13:14:29Z2022-01-28T15:33:55ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

Again i will add to this thread with a similar issue that is rearing its ugly Head as ones i have posted about above.

This one involves weird Hexadecimal blocks of numbers being added to the Comments Tag?
This is only happening to a small percentage of files and i am not 100% in what part of the analysis or editing process with Beatunes it is happening, if it is to do with certain analysis settings though it did happen to a file earlier today by me just manually editing a comment within Beatunes, the next time i loaded up Beatunes this weird Hex number was in the comments replacing the Data i had entered their in an earlier session. WTF??

I went through my library in Foobar2000 the Day before and found about 300 in total with this numbering in the Comments Tag so deleted this info from there.

I will add a screenshot of the addons to BT i am using and a shot from the Library.
10 blocks of 8 numbers like below for example:

000014C8 000014C8 000033F3 000033F3 00000000 00000000 00007F47 00007F47 00000000 00000000

or

000005D6 000005D6 00000E97 00000E97 00000000 00000000 00006566 00006566 00000000 00000000

daztag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022022-02-15T09:12:19Z2022-02-15T09:12:19ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

The only source I can imagine right now, is ReplayGain (volume normalization) analysis.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/495596022022-02-15T19:28:29Z2022-02-15T19:28:35ZHow BT is handling my Date/Year information.

I have been using MP3tag to investigate these files further because you can see the "Extrended Tags" by using that and what i am finding very often these annoying AF strings of numbers that are added to the default COMMENTS tag match the numbers in a "COMMENT ITUNNORM" Field that Beatunes adds to the File.

Other times a 'second' additional "COMMENT" tag is added with the numbers string.

And other times these numbers strings will be 'added to' the the normal "COMMENT" tag 'after' what is already in there, so not overwriting it.

And yet other times it will 'overwrite' the normal "COMMENT" tag with this nonsense :(.

To say its annoying is an understatement, its driving me Batsh*t.

So do you think it may be the Audio Normalisation setting inside Beatunes then?
I have been using that setting set to 'Replaygain 2' at the 'Replaygain2' setting on the slider which is 18?

Should i abandon Replaygain2 and use Replaygain 1?

Should in not use Replaygain at all inside of Beatunes and go back to to using the Replaygain scans in other software like with Foobar2000 for example which i used to use anyway before i got Beatunes?

daz
