I want to have beaTunes copy this info over to my iTunes library, but I want to make sure the fruit of my labour doesn't get clobbered in the process. Should I synchronize or will this overwrite the new metadata with the stale iTunes metadata?

If it makes any difference:
• Preferences > General > Music Library is "iTunes: […] iTunes Music Library.xml" • 90% of the songs have an iCloud Status of "Apple Music".

blaqtag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/483814812020-06-04T05:16:41Z2020-06-04T05:16:44ZHow to copy updated metadata from beaTunes to iTunes?

Hi Mate,
I just did a very quick test using a tag that I know gets stored in the file (CONTENTGROUP tag (Work/Work Name in iTunes, Work in Beatunes), and no action is necessary. iTunes is automatically updated upon closing BeatTunes, and iTunes.

This is the behaviour for .mp3 files.

Which file type/format are your files?

Patchtag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/483814812020-06-04T07:28:14Z2020-06-04T07:28:14ZHow to copy updated metadata from beaTunes to iTunes?

How data is communicated from beaTunes to iTunes depends a lot on what kind of beaTunes collection you have. Is it a folder-based or an iTunes-based one?

Regarding Apple Music files—that's a little bit of an unknown. I am not sure those files take changes permanently.

hendriktag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/483814812020-06-04T11:20:33Z2020-06-04T11:20:34ZHow to copy updated metadata from beaTunes to iTunes?

To clarify - my testing above is on an iTunes based library.

Patchtag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/483814812020-06-05T05:48:01Z2020-06-05T05:48:01ZHow to copy updated metadata from beaTunes to iTunes?

Just realized that I had overread:

• Preferences > General > Music Library is "iTunes: […] iTunes Music Library.xml"

Which means that your library is iTunes-based.
Whatever you change in beaTunes should be communicated to iTunes right away. The question is whether iTunes can make the actual changes to your files. If they are in the cloud, the answer is definitely no. For downloaded files it should be possible.

hendrik
