HI I have two libraries I need to check & don't want to mix them up is there a way to do this IE I want to clean up a music library on an external hard drive but don't want to add songs to my synchronized music library on the mac I want to manage that hard drive independently

You can simply create a New library via the File menu. To switch libraries, use the listbox in the general preferences.
