Normalization - should iTunes show changed Volume metadata?
My usual normalization tool (iVolume) has lapsed and I've been trying to use Beatunes (v5.5.2.5 Win 64) to achieve the same result. In the past, after I've run iVolume, iTunes shows the same Volume metadata for each song on an album (ie, all songs on an album might be -6.1 dB). But with Beatunes nothing seems to happen. The iTunes Volume metadata doesn't change after running Beatunes and it stays with the iTunes default of each song getting its own track gain.
I've attached a screen dump of my normalization settings.
Am I doing this right or is there something strange going on here?

Hey Mark,
this sounds like you didn't turn on embedding before you analyzed your files.
Please see https://www.beatunes.com/en/itunes-replay-gain.html
In your case, both checkboxes should be on—then re-run the analysis and things should be fine.
Hope this helps,
-hendrik

Thanks for the input Hendrik. You were right that embedding was not turned on in Beatunes. But unfortunately turning that on hasn't helped.
I ran some new analyses with different settings - though all now with the embedding turned on in General Preferences - and I still get different album gains for each file within an album.
You also mentioned, "in your case, both checkboxes should be on". To which checkboxes were you referring?
cheers,
Mark

Hey Mark,
There are two relevant options in the beaTunes general preferences (see attached screenshot):
Both options must be on before analysis, especially if you have analyzed your files with beaTunes before.
If it still does not work with both options on, please let me know!
Cheers,
-hendrik

Bingo! The "Force overwrite..." made the difference. Thanks!
