are future versions of beatunes running on 10.4 ?
hi,
i have an intel mac mini with 10.4.11 and all the updates
(except itunes - i use itunes 7.7).
beatunes works like a charme. there is one little thing with
musicip. it works on most tags (composer ...)
and the logfiles says it finds the songs but if i open the
info-dialog of a song the songname-correction
popup (shown on your website) didn't show up and the song-name is
not corrected.
is this a limitation of the demo-mode ? i can send you the logs if
nescessary.
my main question (before buying) however is: are future versions of beatunes running on 10.4 ?
i know that on 10.4 i can only use java 5 (without hacking, i
havethe java 6 beta-installer for tiger lying around on my hd)
but i am not willing to upgrade to 10.5 in the near future.
all your beta-versions are 10.5 only, thats why i ask.

Thanks for your message.
From beaTunes 2.1 on I will stop supporting OS X 10.4.
I'm not entirely certain yet, but I'll probably also desupport PPC altogether.
It's been many years since PPC was current hardware and many 10.6 APIs by Apple are not supported anymore by PPC hardware..
beaTunes 2.0 will stay available on the website though.
Regarding musicip - it's not limited in the demo mode at all.

i think the actual version will do it for me.
10.4 does not always mean PPC hardware. i have an INTEL Mac Mini Dual Core.
so i dont understand your " .. many 10.6 APIs by Apple are not supported anymore by PPC hardware.."

I didn't mean to imply that you are running a PowerPC Mac Mini.
But because we are talking about desupporting platforms, it came to mind.
The issue is, that if you want to compile for 64bit you more likely than not can't compile for 10.4 anymore. That, Snow Leopard not being supported on PPC and (finally!) moving to Java 6 are the issues.
