What algorithm is used for the Play similar Songs option?
The reason I'm asking is because this algorithm seems to be very good at determining like songs and it would be great if we could use it to generate playlists.

Also, it possible for us to get a song list during playback, so that we can see the upcoming songs similarly to how it is done in iTunes?

There is a plugin for that: "Similar Songs Table". See also http://help.beatunes.com/discussions/suggestions/2502-play-similar-...

After installation of the plugin, you can ask beaTunes to show an extra playlist window with a new menu item under "Controls".

It's a proprietary mixture of factors.

and it would be great if we could use it to generate playlists.

Tip: the plugin I refer to above can be used to show the corresponding list. You can simply select all songs in that list, right-click and choose "New Playlist from Selection".
