OK. I have put a lot of effort into providing features in beaTunes that allow playback in specific orders. Be it sorted by key, BPM, mood, you name it (see also this article). There are also MatchLists that take multiple song properties into account. One could say that the very purpose of beaTunes is to create playlist orders that are better than shuffle. That's the reason I have never implemented it.
And yes, that may be an esoteric reason.
Perhaps there will be shuffle in the future. Who knows.
Sorry, please don't take my casual comment amiss. First of all, I love beatunes and can't imagine music without it anymore. I really appreciate your work and am grateful for all the functionality you have already added. I can also understand very well how annoying it can be when the craziest feature requests keep coming in over and over again.
The reason I still think a shuffle feature would add value to beatunes is that - besides all the great sorting and filtering mechanisms - sometimes you simply don't want to know what song comes next. I have a playlist with all my favorite songs and I know the order by heart now, for different sortings based on the properties. Most recently I even sorted the songs by chamber tone and then added them to a playlist... But I would find it quite refreshing, for once, to not know what song is coming next. Of course I can just open the playlist with any other player and shuffle it there, but I would love to just use beatunes for all my music functionalities. No other player anymore :)
Basically there would be two ways to integrate shuffle: Either conventionally at the top in the bar next to "repeat - all" or by a function to add marked songs randomly to a playlist.
But I can also understand if you feel that the shuffle function in some way offends against the principles and functionalities of beatunes. Either way, thanks for the great program and continued success in developing it further!

Nothing to apologize for. In fact, please don't take my comment above as "annoyed" or anything like that. I just wanted to explain why there is no shuffle. And I am aware, it's a little opinionated. That's the beauty of being small and independent. Sometimes you can get away with being a little opinionated.
That said, I generally try to listen to good arguments and you are certainly making some good ones. I'll put it on the todo list (which in itself does not mean a whole lot, but perhaps at some point it magically appears in the product ;-) )
