rid of these annoying duplicate files in my iTunes. I chose the
option to select the highest bitrate and delete the others this
last time around. It seemed to work at first and this time I didn't
delete any of my "usable" files. However; when I checked my music
list, I can clearly see there are still several thousand duplicate
files. I'm guessing it's because certain duplicate files have the
exact same bitrate and that's why it won't delete them. I'm really
scared to use the option "keep first installed" or "most played"
because it may delete the only usuable file i have. Confusing I
know but basically I discovered that by restoring missing iTunes
files creates a new date on the file. When I select keep first
installed file (which is not really there) beaTunes deletes the
newly restored file. It would be nice to just have a catch all
selection to "disable" or "uncheck" the duplicate file. Better yet,
beaTunes let's us have the option of creating a temporary back up
file to revert back to, in the event the selection to delete was in
error. Thanks in advance for your help.

Joe Settlestag:help.beatunes.com,2009-07-24:Comment/17541102010-05-23T20:20:03Z2010-05-23T20:20:03ZDuplicates

Hi Joe,

in most case beaTunes moves the file into the trash,
i.e. it does not actually delete the files. In some cases, e.g.
when you are using a network drive this does not work however. You
might want to test what exactly happens..

Regarding not catching all duplicates... did you run the
inspection multiple times and does beaTunes also report no
duplicates?

Do you think, beaTunes does not delete some files, even though
it says it did? If so, I'd like to look at a log, right after you
committed the inspection solutions. This page helps you to find the
logs: <a href=

Thanks,
