I downloaded beatunes but can't get copy and paste my playlist from apple music (downloaded music that is not bough from apple)
hi
I have a new-to-me 2020 macbook air M1. my old bpm analyzer won't work with apple OS ventura. Now I've downloaded beatunes and can't figure out how to import my apple music playlist to beatunes to be analyzed.
In my old machine with itunes i'd just drag the music from my itunes playlist to the analyzer. how do i do the equivalent in beatunes with this damned apple music player? ;)
I'm not seeing the equivalent of the faq recommendation for preferences in my apple music player.
The music i'm wanting to analyze is sourced from bandcamp, etc... it's NOT music from apple that I bought or streamed.
Your help is greatly appreciated. After my 2 week trial I'll happily purchase the beatunes product if I can get help getting it to work for me with ease. :)
~Eva

Hi Eva,
In beaTunes, make sure that your collection is Music.app-based. If you don't see all your playlists in beaTunes you have created the wrong kind (folder-based) of collection. Simply create a new, Music.app-based collection in beaTunes, then select your playlist (in beaTunes) and select Analyze from the File menu. Make sure to only select the BPM analysis task and disable all others.
Please see also https://www.beatunes.com/en/itunes-automatic-bpm-detection.html
For more info on different kinds of beaTunes collections, please see also this (ancient) article https://blog.beatunes.com/2015/01/different-libraries-for-different... Whatever it contains for iTunes also applies to Music.app.
Hope this helps,
-hendrik

Hi Eva,
at some point macOS asked you whether you want to allow beaTunes to remote control Music.app. Either you didn't see the dialog or you didn't allow it. This is where the error message stems from: macOS/you do not allow to beaTunes to communicate with Music.app.
To fix this, go to System Preferences/Settings, Privacy & Security, Automation and allow beaTunes to remote control Music.app, then try again.
Hope this helps,
